Remote Access With A Custom URL And Port
If, instead of using Screens Connect, you rely on a third-party dynamic DNS service or use a public IP address to access your computer remotely, you must manually configure your connection settings accordingly.
Without a Secure Connection
Simply enter your custom URL, or public IP address and port number, in the General Info section of the "screen" settings.
With a Secure Connection
When connecting to a remote computer through a SSH tunnel, follow these recommendations.
Use the local network information for your computer. Once a secure network connection has been established, the SSH tunnel will use this information to connect your Screens session.
Enter your custom URL or public IP address and port number. Screens will use this information to create a SSH tunnel before connecting to the Screen Sharing service (on Macs) or VNC server (on Windows and Linux).
Local Connection through a Secure Connection
Once a secure network connection has been established, Screens uses remote computer’s local network information to initiate a VNC/Screen Sharing connection, so make sure that you enter the local IP address or hostname displayed on the remote computer in Screens' settings, under General Info > Address.
